Rather than paying lip service or throwing unverified, flavor-of-the-month profiling tools at you, I use the Basadur Creative Problem Solving Profile. It was invented by Min Basadur, Ph.D in 1982 and continues to evolve today as a scientifically valid, cross-cultural psychometric instrument directly linked to the cognitive demands of the Creative Problem Solving Process. It immerses new participants into real-world problem solving capability.

The profile's research shows:

  • We're a blend of preferences
  • Different jobs and functions favor different styles
  • You can be skilled in all four styles
  • Strong balanced teams can be created with that knowledge so that they can tackle a variety of tasks like problem-finding, idea generation, challenge mapping, and reframing

The CPSP gauges the creative DNA of your organization. It's experiential, inclusive, and real. The results can be used to properly assess your organization's collective sensemaking/changemaking strengths. The proper course of action can then be devised.

3. Business Model Design

Problem is that people don't know what they're spending or earning. Worse, some people struggle coming up with fresh ideas on how to grow their revenue because no one actually knows how their business model operates.

The Business Model Canvas is a visual planning tool that describes the rationale of how any organization creates, delivers, and captures value. It consists of nine components that make up the basic building blocks of any business.

The Canvas isn’t just for techies: it works for startups, current business owners, corporate innovators, students, nonprofits, and consultants.
